Rep. Gallegos joins House Speaker for Las Cruces Town Hall

Las Cruces, NM - On Saturday, January 11th, Representative Doreen Gallegos joined NM Speaker of the House Javier Martinez and legislators from throughout Doña Ana County for a legislative town hall on the campus of New Mexico State University. The Representative and her colleagues engaged in wide-ranging discussions on legislative priorities with members of the public.

The town hall allowed members of the public to engage with legislators and voice their needs before the 60-day legislative session beginning on January 21st. Among many others, topics including healthcare, education, and infrastructure were raised and discussed by Rep. Gallegos and her colleagues.

Speaking on New Mexico’s healthcare worker shortage, Rep. Gallegos stressed that “no one should have to leave New Mexico to receive quality healthcare.” Noting that while we have made progress, there is more work to be done to ensure New Mexicans can access top-tier healthcare while equipping providers with the tools they need to succeed.

Representative Gallegos has been a continued champion for the improvement of healthcare in New Mexico throughout her tenure in the House. Most recently, she sponsored the Health Care Delivery and Access Act, creating the healthcare delivery and access fund to direct funds to the critical care of New Mexicans.
