Doreen Will Continue to Fight For:

Small Businesses

We have large budget surpluses and we need to use these dollars to invest in new businesses, small businesses and technologies that will generate jobs in New Mexico.

Education

We have made tremendous progress to put our public schools on sound footing with over $500 million in new investments, creating the highest teacher pay in the Southwest region, and the Early Childhood Education and Care Trust Fund. Our next challenge is to grow and recruit the best educators to our state, from PreK to K-12 to vocational and college professors.

Healthcare

I sponsored legislation to ensure that independent surgery centers were able to remain open and provide services in the face of increasing insurance rate hikes. I also passed legislation working with Burrell Osteopathic Medical School to increase dental care in rural New Mexico and legislation to make it easier for doctors, nurses, other healthcare and professional service providers to become licensed in the State. Now is the time to focus on making healthcare more affordable for all families. I will support further reductions in prescription drug costs and fight to ensure reproductive freedoms remain truly free for New Mexico’s women.

Democracy

Our democracy is under threat. We must protect, and in fact, expand, the ability to vote securely and safely. I will work to safeguard election workers from harassment, expand early and absentee voting choices, and fight back against illegitimate attempts to suppress our right to have our voices heard.
